The resource center @ NIFT Kolkata comprises of variety of books covering information regarding fashion designing, fashion management, garments and technology. The wing also subscribes to fashion journals and fashion forecast. Videotapes, Slides and CD-ROM are a part of this wing from where visual information can be collected. It provides various publications (Fashion periodical Index, Bibliographies on request) to the members.

The resource center is also having a material wing which consists of textiles, costumes, and different accessories. We have got nearly all the handicraft/textiles of north-eastern states at our resource center.

The fashion forecaster must combine his/her own knowledge of fashion design and history with consumer business information. Design firms and retail markets utilize forecasting services to predict trends in color and fashion.
